Arya is a small plates tapas restaurant, owned and run by Ramsgate, born and bred, siblings Jess and Luke Crittenden, located above The Ravensgate Arms in King Street, Ramsgate.
Since opening in August 2018, we have made the top ten in the 'best Kent restaurant' category of the Taste of Kent Awards 2019 and been a finalist (top 3) of the Kent Life Food and Drink awards 2019 'best restaurant'
In October we were awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand (given to restaurants that offer a high quality dining experience at a reasonable price) in the 2020 edition of the Michelin Guide. We are the only restaurant in Thanet that holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and one of only 3 in the whole of Kent.
Luke uses his years of experience, working in London for chefs including Gary Rhodes, Galvin, Florence Knight and his three years as head chef in Soho's Polpetto, to create interesting small plates of flavoursome fun, meant for sharing with friends and family in our intimate and informal restaurant space.
We forage our own ingredients from all over Kent, sea purslane, sea kale, wild fennel and rock samphire is collected from the coast along Ramsgate, Pegwell and Herne Bay, as well as wild strawberries, blackberries, hops and wild chamomile from Cobham wood in west Kent. Our menus change regularly depending on what is in season and what Luke has managed to pick up while out and about.
We try to source all our products locally. Our meat comes from Hazells in Broadstairs, Vegetables from Prentis greengrocers, just 50 metres down the road, the majority of our fish is sourced from local fisherman, our sourdough is provided by local baker "Modern Provider' in Margate.
